Student Recreation Center Expansion / Renovation
Programming, planning and design for the complete renovation of an existing 85,000 sf recreation center, along with 79,500 sf of additional space and outdoor recreational field complex. Renovations included: upgrades to an existing 3-court gymnasium; track; racquetball courts; weight–fitness space; and Kinesiology Department; a new building entry and circulation spine and conversion of an indoor pool into a MAC. New program spaces wrap the previously windowless complex. The addition includes a new performance gymnasium; indoor 25 yd x 8 lane competition pool, separate diving well, recreational pool and spa; additional weight–fitness space; group exercise rooms; bouldering wall and offices. The new outdoor turf complex includes soccer and softball fields and support building. A geothermal ground source system conditions the natatorium.
