Al Michaels Center Planning Study
The Al McGuire Center built in 2003 has served the University and the Athletics Department well over the last decade, however as athletic programs and needs have changed over time, some strategic re-configurations of current space is required. As a result CannonDesign is proposing to undertake a 60 day pre-design program / concept phase for the Al McGuire Center . The work will include the following:
• Develop a preliminary program based on current and projected needs
• Develop a phased implementation strategy, which aligns with space transitions and moves aligned to funding streams and space availability.
• Develop concept floor plans highlighting improvements
• Develop opinion of probable cost for the facility improvements escalated in the year which they are planned to be implanted.
• Prepare a final report package that can be used as a roadmap for implantation.
The CannonDesign team will be led by myself as the Project Principal, and Reed Voorhees whom is one of our national collegiate sports planners.
We understand that the athletics department has developed a key program needs / improvements list and that will be the basis of the study. As part of the study we will also study the entire center and make recommendations that may improve the implementation of the key projects. We understand the key components are as follows:
• Common Space
o Kitchen/Dining area for all tenants
o Replace carpeting throughout building
• Training Room
o Reconfigure and upgrade pools to include pump storage area underneath
o Replace flooring (hardwood/laminate)
o Upgrade treatment tables
