The Pointe at Ballwin Commons - Community Recreation Center, City of Ballwin, Missouri
The Pointe at Ballwin Commons
The City of Ballwin was one of the first communities in the State of Missouri to develop a new generation, multifaceted, community recreation center. This project was the first of its type in the St. Louis market and set the bar for indoor community recreation facilities in the State. The project still holds as a model other municipalities strive for and has been toured by municipalities from around the country.
Planning and design of a new 68,400 sf community recreation complex on a 12 acre site in a residential neighborhood. The building features an indoor sky-lit recreation/fitness pool with spa, four lane walking/jogging track (8 laps per mile), two-court gymnasium with skylights, aerobics/dance studio, fitness areas, game room, baby sitting and offices. Mr. Voorhees designed the first steel, spiral stair tower for the water slide, which has become the standard detail of the major water slide manufacturers today.
