The Pavilion at Lemay - Community Recreation Center / Aquatic Complex
A new 45,000 sf recreation center and outdoor aquatic complex for the small, unincorporated community of Lemay, in St. Louis County, has been the catalyst for growth in the resurgent community. The facility is in historic Jefferson Barracks Park, a 450-acre park on the Mississippi River. Located at the park’s western edge, the community center was conceived as a welcoming “pavilion in the park” destination.

Building components were planned to minimize costs while maximizing flexibility and programming opportunities. The recreation center includes a sub-dividable multipurpose event room with adjacent kitchen, a Multi-use Activity Court (MAC), weight-fitness area, group exercise studio, elevated jogging track around perimeter of the second floor, outdoor terrace that overlooks the aquatic complex, offices, locker/shower rooms, a public lounge, a resource center, and drop-in babysitting. The outdoor pool complex includes a large beach entry leisure pool with a terraced wet deck, children’s play fort, fitness pool with four lap lanes, lazy river, deep water pool with one-meter board, three-meter diving platform, drop slide and climbing wall, a wet multipurpose room, and concessions.
